About The Nocturnal Philosopher

My name is Colette and I’m the person behind The Nocturnal Philosopher.

I chose the name The Nocturnal Philosopher for this blog, because for a long time now I have been having philosophical conversations with myself during the majority of the hours that normal people like to sleep through. There’s more meaning to it then that though. When I was younger, I would come home from school, do my home work and then sit in my room and do the same thing I do now. Of course, back then I thought people would think I was strange for doing so (and in a way, I was right. Many people would think it strange to sit in their bedroom for hours on end and have conversations with themselves). There was also the issue of my parents not liking it, since I would come up with some rather out there thoughts sometimes. So I hid it from them. Kept them ‘in the dark’ about it, as the saying goes. So the word nocturnal is used to indicate both night and darkness. Yeah, I put a lot of thought into that. More than I should have? Oh well, at least it’s meaningful.

I love the arts, both performing and visual (I’m putting writing in this category since, well, words are visual as are the images they create in our minds). Capoeira, Dance, Drama, Music, Photography and Writing (Fiction/Film Scripts/Poetry/Song Lyrics/These Blog Posts) are the things I love the most. I also enjoy Website Design and Drawing (though I’m pretty terrible at it). I love film photography. The whole process, from taking the photos to developing them (except loading film. Loading film and I don’t get along very well. But we’re getting there). I expect you’ll be seeing some photography related posts in the near future. 🙂

That’s all from me for now, but I shall update this page as needed. 🙂
